Well what a fabulous week we had when Sunshine & Daisies attended the Small Business Sunday event. It was held at Edgbaston cricket Stadium on Friday 30th March & was attended by some 250 award winners.
Small Business Sunday, shortened to the hashtag #SBS on Twitter, was created by Theo Paphitis in October 2010. Theo is best known for his star role in TV's Dragons' Den. He is Chairman of Ryman Stationery plus Boux Avenue lingerie and joint owner of Red Letter Days.
Each Sunday Theo rewards small businesses that tweet him @TheoPaphitis and describe their business in one tweet. Out of the thousands of entries each week, Theo reviews and chooses his favourite six who are then re-tweeted. As he has over 230,000 followers, this provides a massive boost to the chosen businesses.
We entered back in 2010 & won our retweet on 12th December that year. That was week 10 of #SBS & we were delighted to find out at the event, that we really were personally chosen by Theo!
Our tweet read 'Always charming, very unique and the perfect addition to a Christmas brandy or champers glass!!'
You can read more about how to enter & the benefits by clicking here.
The day was sponsored by Rymans stationery & what a day it was! Lunch & free flowing tipples (yes we really did stick to coke!) were followed by a presentation by Theo for almost 3 hours. He showcased the new website he has launched especially for #SBS winners which has been created by a fellow #SBS winner @metalfrogst. It contains all manner of inspirational advice & will allow us as small businesses to pool our resources.
It was amazing to meet so many people too. We encounter some wonderful individuals on a daily basis in our virtual Twitter world so it was an absolute pleasure that it has now become a 'real' world also.
